So, today I graduated from college. It’s an odd sensation, I don’t recommend it, very anti-climatic. Despite my graduation, I’ll be at Bowdoin all summer so I’ve got that going for me. Then I’m off to Chicago in the fall. Anyway I’ll be gone for a week, so, instead of not updating the blog, I will not be updating the blog until at least next Monday (this may be a lie).

Other news: Venus = a significant meh. Good acting but, in my opinion, kinda slow/dull.

In Books: Feeling Very Strange: The Slipstream Anthology = a decent short story collection. Unfortunately, it’s kind of uneven (some of the stories are a little too “smart” for my taste) and there is a definite undercurrent of snobbishness throughout the book. Basically, the premise is science fiction (of the magical realism/urban fantasy/weird shit variety) by mainstream authors, who the editors seem to think are far superior to regular SF authors. This is true in some cases (many actually) but in others (see: Wolfe, Gene who is fucking amazing) not so much. Worth a look for a completionist(sp?) or if you’re into some of the authors within, but otherwise go buy one of the renaissance (Space Opera Renaissance, Hard SF Renaissance) books or a Philip K. Dick collection for bad ass short stories.
